Oxted will be the first crematorium in the country to have a hybrid cremator, working from both electricity and gas. This will significantly reduce CO2 emissions over those of any other crematoria in the area. Our cremator will also be fitted with equipment to scrub for both mercury and NOx – ahead of requirements in legislation and, again, ahead of other crematoria in the area.
We take our environmental responsibilities seriously. Horizon is the only crematorium company to publish an annual report on our Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) performance. Here is the report on our performance in 2025.
