Travelling to the Crematorium

We don’t want to slow traffic on the A25, so are taking our access of Barrow Green Road to the east of the site. One of the key reasons for choosing this site is its excellent road connections. Most people will come by car, but the site is also well served by three bus stops on the main road and is only a mile and a half from Oxted train station, so people will have a genuine choice.

Crematoria generate low levels of traffic and our visitors arrive outside the normal morning and evening peak periods.  As a result, we do not envisage any significant impact on the local road network.   We are providing far more parking than the standards suggest, to make sure there is no parking on external roads even for busy services.   We expect most services would generate 15-20 cars.

The Environment

The crematorium will use the latest and best quality cremation equipment so that we can ensure the lowest possible emissions. The system we use is a world leader. It is one of the most expensive on the market and is built in the UK. Much of the cremator room area will be filled with an abatement system that will strip out pollutants including mercury.

Crematoria are not noisy and we will be careful about light pollution. Our lighting will be low level and kept to a minimum. There will be no lighting on site outside working hours.
